What is TastebudsNYC?  It is a community for those of us in the food biz and those of us who just love food. Whether you work behind the scenes on food security issues, toil at the sauce station, are planning the next Farm to Table, or regularly use “grassy” and other snobby adjectives to describe your favorite cheese, this is your opportunity to expand your network and community.  We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month.  For more information visit our website: www.tastebudsnyc.com.

I really fell for him when I saw him eating barbeque naked by the light of the refrigerator [sigh]; that’s the key to my heart.

Beth (via andres)

I just rediscovered this old blog post of my roommate quoting me from almost a year ago…I think I’ll stick with naked barbeque eater as my type.

i just discovered, via commercial, that there is a SPICY baconator at wendy’s? i’d already been tempted by the original, and just when i completely forgot it existed they come out with a spicy version. jared, ian, please eat this and blog it for me so i don’t go further desecrate my body.

food?

not too much excitement in food-land these days. i feel like i haven’t posted any good cookin’ in a while. also, i haven’t taken any photos while i’ve been dog-sitting this week, but i will describe a delicious steak i made the other night:

very delicious and steak-y. i rubbed it down with coarse salt, pepper, and a little crushed red pepper and let it sit around…seared it in hot oil, finished it in the oven… while it was finishing i cooked some shallots in steak juices from the searing pan with a little butter, added some thyme and sage, then a little sherry vinegar to make a sweet and savory relish-like accompaniment to the steak. magnifique.

those cheddar dill puffs in the back are AWEsome. recipe here.
also pictured: epoisses (france) and la tur (italy).
aaaand rachel’s famously decadent rolo brownies. let’s just say there’s a half tub of marshmallow fluff and a bag of rolos in there somewhere.
